Germany reached the men’s Volleyball semi-finals with an emphatic 3-0 win over Serbia, and Lukas Kampa epitomised his team`s determination in the first set when he retrieved what looked like a lost cause – and almost ended up in the stands as he helped his team win an unlikely point.

In the Boxing, Ireland`s Brendan Irvine went on the attack in the third round of his semi-final against Ukraine’s Dmytro Zamotayev and was rewarded with a place in the light flyweight gold medal match.
